Cathars Cardiff, UK

Cathars is the brain child of Cardiff based musical duo Matt Hopkins (guitar and vocals) and Lyndon Carroll (bass). After a musical partnership over several years and multiple bands, we saw long untapped musical grounds in the post-punk / hard rock sounds of the 80’s and decided to fuse these with lyrics and themes that mirrored the austerity stricken social landscape that surrounded us. ... more

Track Name: 1984
I look around, and what do I see?
People worshipping their enemies,
Think you’re happy, think you’re free,
Sold your soul to technology,
Every night watch the talking head,
Not much truth in the things they said,
You don’t believe you’re easily led,
You never question the lies you’re fed.

Give all you can give, but they always want more,
And the wolf is always waiting at the door,
While the rich are still rich and the poor are still poor,
Then it will always be 1984.

Open your eyes and look around you,
Can you believe the things they do?
People out of work, on the streets it’s true,
As long as we’re fed we’ll ignore them too.
Politicians at the end of the day,
Will never listen to the things you say,
The puppet masters give them their pay,
And we the people are always betrayed.
